Frenchies vs Frenchtons

The French Bulldog, with its unique charm and distinctive features, has become a beloved breed among dog owners. Originating in England, they were created as smaller versions of the Bulldog and were later brought to France by English lacemakers, where they gained their Frenchie name. Since then they have captured the hearts of many with their playful, adaptable, and affectionate nature.

French Bulldogs are recognized by their compact size, muscular build, and bat-like ears. Their expressive faces, adorned with large, round eyes and a smushed nose, add to their appeal. They usually grow 11-12 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh 16-28 lbs. Their lifespan is expected to be 11-14 years.

Frenchtons are a mix between French Bulldogs and Boston Terriers. Breeders first intentionally mixed Frenchies and Boston Terriers in an effort to create a dog that had the playful temperament of a Frenchie, but was less prone to health issues. Today, the Frenchton is one of the most popular designer dogs in the world. They have a similar appearance to a Frenchie but with a slightly longer snout and leaner body. They are sturdy, sociable, playful, and chill, these pups inherited some of the best qualities from both breeds. They enjoy spending time with their families and usually love children. They grow 11-14 inches tall and weigh 15-25 lbs with an expected lifespan of 12-15 years.
